Essay Contest - Register by December 15/Essay Due January 23 Registration deadline has been extended to December 15, 2008. Postmark or e-mail essay by January 23, 2009. Open to high school students. Scholarships from $250 to $1,000, and several sets of ISI books on "Order and Liberty at the Founding," will be given as prizes. In the essay contest, "George Washington and the Formation of the American Character," students will write about "at least two central elements of Washington's public or private life that found expression in American identity. Essayists are encouraged to consider how those characteristics have been weakened or strengthened over the past two centuries and what this suggests about the American character." Upon registration, the sponsoring Intercollegiate Studies Institute (ISI) will send you a free copy of Patriot Sage, a book that retails for $30! Entrants will also receive a complimentary membership to ISI and will receive a free subscription to their journal, The Intercollegiate Review.
