We saw this yesterday, and (although not completely biblically accurate ) it was quite cute and a good one for the family to see.
Anyone else seen it, what did you think?
Are there any other good family movies out? Although it's being touted as the best movie of the summer we (unfortunately, for my pleading child) will not be going to see Transformers with our son (at least not until we see it first, and judge the cause of the PG-13 rating). We have heard that although it's being marketed to the kids, that's it's more of a movie for older teens/adults.
We also watched Pride last weekend, at it was pretty good too, just alot of unecessary cursing. Why do they do that? Why does hollywood feel the need to throw in swearing and sex, for apparently no reason? 99.9% of the time, those scenes would not make or break the story line, so what's the point?

I haven't seen it yet, and most likely will wait until it comes on Direct tv. We have been watching "Roots" the Next Generation on TV1 all week. Good history for the kids. It will replay next week.

I did see "Evan Almighty" and we did enjoy the thought of the message it gave. The only problem I had with it and "Bruce Almighty" is the title Almighty belongs to God. But other than that I thought it was a pretty cute film.
My hubby and I also took the kids to see "Transformers" and also thought it was a pretty good film. Actually my husband loved it. Of course you make sure your kids know whats real and whats make believe and it was very well done. I don't recall any thing at all that you wouldn't be comfortable with a kid AJ's age seeing. I don't remember any cursing and there was no indecent behavor at all except at the very end the teenagers kissed and you could almost leave before that happens. This may very well be voted the number 1 movie of the year and they didn't have sex to do it. AJ and Steve will love it.

I think you guys will also like "Evan Almighty" My husband and I thought how it would be for us if God told us to do something and no one else understood or believed us. We already go through that sometimes so I think as Christians this lets you see how it must have been for Noah with all the sin going on and no one even wants to be believe. But we must remember how narrow that road is going to be. As God tells us to remove ourselves from the sinful things and lust of this world and save ourselves we will at times be mocked and considered extremist. But the good thing is that would put us in a group of some very good extremist. examples....Christ, Noah, Moses, Abraham and the list goes on.

We may end up seeing it one day. But although AJ is mature in some areas, we still have to really watch out for others. He still cannot quite distinguish fiction from reality, and can get out of hand sometimes. That's why I love being able to ask other Christians about their thoughts on it. I know that Steve really wants to see it, so either way, I'll end up seeing it, maybe twice if we see it w/o AJ. Although I cringe at having to see that as my "date night" movie lol. We need to start a movie review board, lol .

I think a movie review board is a good idea. It really helps to get christian views on some of these movies. It's already getting to where our kids can't see many of these movies that are out. My kids think that because it's rated "PG13" that it means it's ok for them to see. But when we see it my husband and I always end up feeling like we can't believe the level of "STUFF" this society feels is ok for 13 year olds to see. So I'm all for a movie review board and that includes letting each other know of good christian movies that are at the library or Blockbuster etc. as well the theaters. Anyway TaQuilla it looks like you should see it twice or at least with Steve and then you guys decide if you want to see it with AJ or not. Ken and I have had to do that with quite a few PG13 movies and I have kids all around that age. Sometimes it's little things like the way kids in the movies talk to their parents or all the young dating movies. We have to make sure that our kids know that this is not the way christian kids are suppose to act. But any way as for the review board I'm all for it.
