I was considering the fact that I've been a mother, and married, for almost all of my adult life. I honestly have a very faint memory of what it was like being single, and being a Christan. My faith has really been strengthened over the years, but I often wonder, "Would I be able to stand as strong in my faith if I were single?" I consider the youth/unmarried men/women of my church often and how strong that they truly have to be in this day and age. It takes a strength that I sometimes doubt that I'd possess. Maybe the Lord knew this, and so guided me to a life of motherhood/being a wife. I'm a quiet type that may or may not have been swayed to live a life not pleasing to the Lord. Not because I'm easily led astray, but because I'm so quiet that I would have just went along for the ride, and likely ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Or maybe I would have been a little naive when it came to men, believing all of the fairy tales that Hollywood shoves down our throat.
Anyway, what I've been wondering is, what does it take to make it as a single Christian? What tactics do they have/need in order to avoid the many temptations that they may face? Of course, we all face temptations, but being single has it own set of worries. What type of people must you surround yourself around, so that you are edified in Christ, and not brought down by Satan? How do you make it so that your focus is on the Lord as he intends it to be for singles who have more time for him? (Versus using your extra time for worldly things). Does anyone have tips for the singles out there?
