While Titus 2:4,5 tells us that the younger women are to be keepers of their homes, we are also exalted various times in throughout the Bible to be good stewards of the money that we have (not blowing all of our money on our own needs, but saving some for needs of the the kingdom, and of others). When I combine to two of these concepts, along with what I read about the virtuous woman of Prov 31, I feel the Lord leading me to make sure that I as a wife, am not one who spends the family finances frivolously, and make my husband labor to no avail. I feel that the Lord has given me the position as Household Manager, to make sure that the money that my dear husband brings home is spent wisely, and that there is enough left over to do His will (help the homeless, loan to a brother/sister in need, etc).
So, with my family being in a bit of a financial crunch these past few months, I've had to really get creative w/our spending, so that my husband and my God are pleased.
I thought it would be nice to start a "frugal" thread, where we can share different things that we do around the house, etc., to save money and be frugal. I'll share some sites that I like to frequent for ideas on stretching money (especially important in the one income household), and I'd love if anyone else has ideas to share as well. What do you do to be frugal: shop thrift stores, garage sales, make things from scratch, make your own clothes , etc... Any sites/ideas to share?
