prayer requests for homeschool families « Result #6 on Nov 25, 2008, 7:57am »
An email I received from a homeschool e-list that I'm on:
A family in N.C. is facing treatment for a teen with anorexia. Not only is this scary, there is also the chance that there will be suspicion from authorities about the health of this and other children in this large family. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _
The Clapp family, from Smithfield, VA: Their very athletic & "healthy" son, Brian, is being treated for a blood disorder. Actually, they are having a hard time diagnosing exactly what it is, but that's the direction doctors are looking. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _
The Knopf family, from Yorktown, VA: Their teenage daughter Michelle is in need of a kidney transplant. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _
All longtime homeschool families in Southeastern VA know the name Pat Block. She was at the roots of homeschooling here, and led all of us until she finished up her 4 "kiddos" a few years back. Pat's husband Art had a stroke last month, and although it seems he is fine, they could certainly use prayer for continued healing & peace about his health. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _
Three ladies that I personally know have become widows over the past few years. As they continue to homeschool, or face a different season in life, please keep Ellen McDade, Candace Wolf, and Phyllis Countryman in your prayer. ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _
Thanks for caring about people who are linked to YOU through the homeschool web of life!

Bumper Sticker Contest - Ends 12/3/08 « Result #9 on Nov 16, 2008, 6:28pm »
There Is a God Bumper Sticker Contest - Ends December 3
Felice Gerwitz and others are sponsoring a contest for children ages 5 to 17 to win prizes and help come up with slogans for bumper stickers. There is a bus sign campaign in England casting doubt on the existence of God. Kids are invited to come up with slogans for bumper stickers to counter the bus signs and share their faith!
To enter, come up with a catchy slogan that gives glory to God as the Creator of all (the slogan doesn't necessarily need to say these words, but should imply God's greatness), then fill in the form on the website. You may also help promote the contest in your blogs, websites, e-lists, and newsletters. See the website for all the details. Read about the bus sign campaign at the second link.
Fireproof was an awesome movie, my husband said that we should recommend this to everyone that we know. I thought it was really great, especially considering the time that this generation is seeing with marriages falling apart left and right. And from what I understand the "Love Dare" book that is touched on in the film is actually available for purchase as well. I may have to look into it, because although my marriage is great now, a little preventative maintenance is always a good thing.
